PRAGUE PIANO DUO     Zdena  &  Martin  Hršel  

The Prague Piano Duo - Zdeňka Kolářová and Martin Hršel - studied at Prague Conservatoire and graduated as students of Ivan Moravec, Josef Páleníček and Jan Panenka at the Prague Academy of Music.
        Their debut as the piano duo took place in 1991 at one of the Czech Republic most prestigious festivals "The Young Artists Platform Festival" in the city of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad). The same year they performed Bohuslav Martinů's Concerto for 2 Pianos in Prague. Since then they have been regularly invited to perform with the most important orchestras in the Czech Republic and with a number of distinguished Czech Conductors, such as Libor Pešek, Jiří Bělohlávek, Martin Turnovský, Josef Suk, Petr Altrichter, Leoš Svárovský and others.
        In 1993 they won the 1st prize at the International Competition for Duo Pianists in Rome, Italy and also played their US debut in the solo recital at the Xavier Music Series in Cincinnati, Ohio, to great critical acclaim and they took part on International master classes directed by madam Janine Redig-Piette in Polička..
        In the year 1995 Kolářová and Hršel appeared with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Libor Pešek and in 1997 with BBC Symphonic Orchestra under Jiří Bělohlávek in London Royal Festival Hall. They are also reinvited for concert tours to Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland and USA (Chicago,Cincinnati,Washington,Princeton).
        Their festival appearances include the Prague Spring Festival (1996 and 2004), Schleswig-Holstein (1995) with Josef Suk, Montpellier (1996) in France (four recitals of Liszt's music), Martinů Festival Prague (2001) with Czech Philharmonic under Thomas Sanderlinck, Piano Festival Český Krumlov 2002, Concetntus Moraviae 2003, Dvořák Festival Nelahozeves 2004, Chamber Music Festival Český Krumlov 2004.
        In 2001 they performed in Paris (O.Messiaen Hall) for Radio France and in Dijon and St.Quentin for Radio Classic. In 2002 they were invited to take part in the „Czech Season in France – Bohemia Magica“ and performed the two piano recital at the Suresnes National Theatre in Paris. In 2004 they performed twice at Auditorium de Dijon – first in two pianos solo recital and the second in live recording of two concertos Dussek/Koželuh with Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice (cond.L.Svárovský). In January 2005 they were invited to take part in the “La Folle Journée” Festival in Nantes.
They both teach at the Conservatoire of Pardubice.
Kolářová and Hršel are husband and wife and they have got two children.

Prague Piano Duo recorded complete works for 2 pianos by Bohuslav Martinů (1991) and W.A. Mozart - including two concerti K 242 and K 365 (1993). Since 1996 they have been cooperating with the company AMC, Paris. For the label „Praga Digitals“ they recorded:
